HGH and GBS

April 28th 2010 08:46
Does the phrase 'buy human growth hormone' give you an odd feeling, a kind of shiver up and down your spine?

George Bernard Shaw
Supposedly HGH is produced by the brain, and the production slows up as you get older - around the age of 30. Those people who want to live forever, (and haven't obviously read George Bernard Shaw's warnings about such a desire in his long-winded and almost unstageable play, Back to Methuselah) are welcome to hot themselves up with supplements like this. I think I'll be content to go when I'm ready, sans HGH

Somewhat eventful week

April 27th 2010 08:35
The working life can feel like a bit of a treadmill if things just roll on from day to day, and each day seems pretty similar.

Well, I guess I can't complain about that; even though I do similar work on a regular basis, it's never the same, and that's a plus, and makes up for any downside the job might have (such as the bullying lack of understanding that comes from our 'head office' at times

Exits Rapidly followed by Father

April 17th 2010 04:22
Had a day off work on Thursday after the minor surgery on my eyelid. Spent the time resting up occasionally, and fiddling around not doing anything terribly inspiring the rest of the time - except for a little more work on the script for the children's musical that I'm working on with a friend. The brain insisted on being active even if the body was trying to get itself back together again.

One of the things about a computer when it's been around your house for a while is that all sorts of accumulated junk gets left inside it. For instance,
exit sign
while desktop googling the phrase exit signs I came across a file named 'novel in a year exercises'. It doesn't actually have the phrase 'exit signs' in it, but it does have both words close to each other, so obviously Google Desktop thought that was near enough

Golden

April 8th 2010 08:51
This post has a thing about gold, gold coins, Kontakt Player Gold, the gold in a family crest, and gold teeth.

Firstly, gold coins. This is a subject I've written about a number of times, because I used to write posts for Blogitive, and time after time, the subject matter was gold, or gold coins. There's only so much you can write on this, but here are some examples.

Easter Monday work

April 5th 2010 07:17
Easter Monday, so a holiday from work today - work at the office, that is. What I've been doing is sorting out some more of the garden, and continuing to write the script (officially called the 'libretto') for my children's musical. I've been stuck on the third scene, and things are going a bit slow, even though my collaborator and I have worked out the structure for this particular scene.

It has eleven characters onstage at various times, so it requires some organisation. Along with that there's a good deal of exposition to be slotted in between the action that's moving forward - and backward, almost, at one point

You have been scanned

April 2nd 2010 05:31
Scanners have become so commonplace in retail these days it's odd to think that there was a time back in the nineties when not everyone had one. Even though we'd progressed to a computer and could well have done with a scanner to process our stock, the cost of buying one was prohibitive on the shop's miniscule budget.

I remember the salesman coming in and saying it would only cost $395, which I mistook for $3.95. I thought, 'that's cheap', until the misunderstanding was cleared up. At that time $395 was big money
