Continuing to talk about health
November 1st 2008 08:43
Having found that on Wednesday I’d kind of come to grips with the idea that I was going to have to have a biopsy on my prostate at some time in the near future, I was feeling mostly normal again. Thursday, however, I woke up with a pain in my side, sort of around the upper ribs, and my upper back seemed tight, as though it was being compressed slightly. And then my neck got in on the act and complained of being stiff and irritated.
I half-jokingly said at work that it was probably ‘third-day stress’, a reaction to the news I’d had on the Tuesday. On Friday morning it was still there and then cleared up fairly quickly. Friday evening the neck thing returned, and hasn’t really gone away entirely.
It may well be stress. Who knows. It might be a bit of a bug. Let’s hope it clears up anyway; it’s annoying!
Meanwhile, the casting call for the movie Kingdom Come was looming up. And last night I dreamt about it at length, about all the things they were asking me to do to prove that I should be in the movie. Fortunately, of course, it was only a casting call, and no auditioning was required whatsoever. Can’t imagine why I thought there should be.
Anyway, I went along this morning with an old friend of mine, and apart from having to stand in the queue for a while, the thing was a breeze. Admittedly they were looking for people who could pass for Arabs or Jews or Middle Eastern, and while there were a few of those around, the crowd was pretty eclectic. Plenty of Europeans, for starters.
Anyway, we had to take off our shoes before we got in the main door – not because of any cultural issues, but because they wanted us to draw around one of our feet to give them an idea of foot size. On the back of the application form.
Once the form was filled in, there was nothing else to do except have your picture taken holding a board with your name scribbled on it. Three or four photos taken and we were out of there, one of the women in charge saying to me, ‘Keep growing that beard.’ I could assume all sorts of things from that, but I’ll wait for some confirmation before I start getting excited.
So there we go: my first ever casting call. Thrilling.

I imagine being an extra pays better than blogging, unless you're one of the top bloggers of the world....!
$180NZ a day. It's not high, but it's better than what I get normally...
