More on today

The day held more than just fun playing with the printer.
I learned how to copy a graph from a PDF file, and plunk it into Word.
I wrote more pages of the piece I’m doing on the ethnic makeup of New Zealand, now and in the future. My boss brought back the last similar effort I did, on youth in New Zealand, and with great enthusiasm, showed me where it could be considerably improved. And she was right. And I will improve it. I have started to learn not to treat my first whacks at a topic as masterpieces that cannot be altered. In this office they’ll get altered.
I figured out how to copy a video from You Tube to Power Point. Haven’t quite got it working yet, because I ran out of time. Yesterday, incidentally, I found video my other boss wanted, on You Tube, as well as two quotes from episode 12 of the fourth season of Gray’s Anatomy – something which I regarded as quite an achievement. (You may not, but then perhaps you’re more Net savvy than I am).
What I haven’t figured out is how to keep the low winter sun out of my eyes for the part of the day when it sneaks into view and makes it hard to focus. I could do with those wood shutters we saw on our trip to the Continent. In one place we stayed, in Luxembourg, they had whole wooden shutter doors, which folded up like venetian blinds.
The blinds we do have on the windows are see-through; they're supposed to filter the sun out, but they don't. In Rome, we stayed in a hotel which was so thoroughly covered with these sorts of blinds, that it looked like some dark grey prison from they outside!
