Looking for Work on the Net
December 28th 2006 22:16
Work was slow last night, so I was sent home early. Spent the next couple of hours investigating more online possibilities for earning some cash.
I've now learnt that anything that has lots of !!!!!!! is likely to be a waste of time. Anything that has grammatical or slpeling errors is also likely to have been written by someone else on the make, and is not to be trusted. (Though it's extraordinary how many people on forums, given the chance to preview their work, still manage to post it full of spelling mistakes.
I found a large list of sites for writers to investigate, but it was surprising how many of those came to nothing. One site offered $TEN DOLLARS upfront if you signed up, and then so much more for doing something else - I've now forgotten what, because when I signed up I found that they wouldn't pay out the ten dollars until you'd made twenty-five on their site. Pooh to them, I say!
Another site was for 'essay' writers, and was obviously aimed at the academic stream, but I signed up anyway. I suspect I'll get rejected.
And then I came across forum-building sites. I hadn' t heard of this before. These sites offer to 'build' your forum by giving you posts from their pool of writers - and you, as the forum owner, pay for the privilege. It seems a slightly odd approach, but there were at least twenty of these listed. I investigated three, for starters. At the first it was difficult, but not impossible to find how to become a writer for this company, but I eventually I found it hidden away. The next site had no place for anyone to sign up as a writer, so I emailed them, and the email bounced back. The third sign didn't exist any more. Does this surprise me? Not particularly!

Today's World
Have you looked at about.com, or suite 101, yet?
about.com hires guides for subjects they have open, not so sure how suite 101 works. But both sites are large sites &t have been around for awhile.
Best of luck, your humor is enjoyable.
