Acne begone!

May 19th 2008 09:46
Everybody and his brother is jumping on the bandwagon when it comes to the best acne treatment. A number of sites recommend green tea as an effective herbal treatment. Right, I’ve noticed nobody who drinks green tea has acne – but then, of course, green tea drinkers are all over the age when most people get acne. Acne turns up in the teenage years; how many teenagers drink green tea?

Another site has Phlorogine, a newly discovered algae formula. Yet another uses tea tree oil, or olive leaf extract, or liquorice root extract, or that cure-all: alovera.

But one site has a formula that contains 27 all-natural anti-acne ingredients designed to work synergistically. Twenty-seven; that’ll beat the competition (until someone comes along with 28!)

Aloe Vera Gel starts the list, followed by white willow bark. Chaparral (not the tv program), and Gotu Kola take up positions four and five, with alfalfa at number five. Valerian root is followed by that old favourite, green tea, mixed with walnut shell grit at number eight.

Something called Redmond clay is next, with vegetable glycerine and Jojoba not far behind. Oatmeal makes an unlikely-seeming candidate for number 12, with avocado at 13. MSM, a bio-available form of sulphur that promotes cell regeneration, so we told is 14th, though don’t ask me what bio-available could mean. Am I bio-available? I think I might be.

Bergamot oil and Camomile oil are next and Clary Sage gets stuck in between yet another batch of oils: Frankincense oil, geranium essential oil, jasmine essential oil, juniper oil, lavender oil, Palmarosa oil, parchouli oil, rosemary oil. Ylang Ylang is second to last, followed by yet another oil, Vitamin E oil.

With all those oils, the acne would have nowhere to hide! Personally, I think this highly potent combination would just about scare anything off your skin, and would make you smell to high heaven at the same time.

The combination of all these fragrances is almost to tempting to resist, acne or no acne!
