The joys of filing

While I've been unemployed for the last few months, I've been going to my wife's workplace and doing some of their filing.
I guess you could say it's quite a come-down from the sort of work I've been doing, and yet, it's quite satisfying. I know when finish that that's it for the day. I don't have to go back for another week. And it's very unstressful.
The first day I ever went to work, back in the early sixties, I was given a filing job to do. Somehow I managed to muck even this small task up, filing in the very opposite way to which I was supposed to do. Someone had to come along and unfile all my work. We live and learn.
Now I don't think I'd enjoy getting a job where I had nothing to do but file papers - although I do enjoy the online equivalent of filing, that is, data base work - but doing it once a week for two or three hours is quite pleasant. The mind relaxes and says: I can do this easily...
