PS2
PS2? I had to check out what this was, ignoramus that I apparently am.
Is it an additional Post Script on a letter (or an email, more like these days). Nope.
Does it stand for Port Side on a ship? Nope.
Could it mean Parking Space? You guessed it: the answer is nope!
Of course, to those in the know, it means nothing else besides PlayStation 2. Silly me. But it’s not surprising that I didn’t recognise these letters as standing for this. On a list of acronyms on the Net, I discovered that PS stands for some hundred things, including Power Supply, Packet Scheduler, Paddle Steamer (not so common now!), Palestine (!), Parti Shoqeror (Albanian Socialist Party), Partially Sighted, Penn Station, a Picosecond, the Psalms, Please See, Please Send and Please Stay, and the Pittsburgh and Shawmut Railroad Company.
There’s Penalty Shot, Pencil Sharpener, Prompt Side, Pinball Simulation, Primary Structure, Personal Secretary, Personal Secretary, Personal Size, Personal Space, Personal Statement, Personal Station, Personnel Services, Personnel Specialist (USN Rating) and Personnel Subsystem.
Enough already?
Do you see why I missed the obvious?
