Groin again

March 26th 2009 08:28
Well, there hasn't been much to report on the prostate front for the last week or so. Things were presumably improving internally, but it's a bit hard to tell from the outside. (A prostate op feels like a bit of a fraud, since you don't have anything to show for it - in the way of scars and such.)
There was still quite a bit of pain when I went for a pee, but I presumed that was to be expected given the maltreatment the prostate had suffered, and the fact that the bladder muscles had to get themselves back together again after not being in use for eleven weeks - as it were. But at least I was peeing freely, and that was a major plus.
As well, I've been walking with great ease, increasingly by the day. (I've walked to work every day this week and last, for instance.)
But a curious thing happened. The groin pain I had way back in November decided to return. Finally, after a couple of weeks of it getting more uncomfortable I went to the doctor last Tuesday.
I'd avoided taking anti-inflammatories, even though I suspected the problem was muscular, because I wasn't sure how that would affect the healing process in the other area. (I had used some Voltarin ointment on the area, which did seem to make a difference.)
However, the doctor, after pressing down on the muscle where the pain most was (which, of course, helped it a lot!) decided that it was nothing like a hernia (as had been the diagnosis last time) and that for some reason the muscle just above my upper leg joint was under some additional pressure.
We also confirmed - as my wife has long told me - that one leg (the left) is slightly shorter than the other. I think this is only an occasional thing. It has something to do with my back going out occasionally, and usually comes right after a period of doing stretching exercises over a few days. It may be more permanent than I realise, in which case it's probably the cause of my back going out occasionally!
Anyway, after discussion, with me doing as much diagnosis as the doctor, I think, she decided to give me some anti-inflammatories. By the end of the first day, the pain around the prostate was no more. Obviously the prostate and bladder and urethra all felt good about having anti-inflammatories thrust upon them. Since Tuesday, I've been virtually pain-free when going to the loo. Oh, the joy! I'm now really starting to feel human again.
I skip down the five flights of stairs at work, and sometimes climb up them too. At this rate I'll be leaping up steel buildings like Spiderman, (though without that daft costume), and running marathons. Give or take a few months....

That's such good news. Must feel good to be painfree again.

Yeah, certainly a vast improvement over the last few months....still a bit of a niggle in the groin, but I can live with that (as long as it clears up! LOL)
