Wiggly lines

I've been doing quite a bit of music transcription since I left my last job, using the Sibelius program. (By music transcription I mean scanning music into the computer, moving it from there into Sibelius, and then shifting it up or down a key or two. A slightly more complex task than it sounds, but enjoyable.)
Sibelius is one of the joys of my life (the program, I mean, not the composer), and certainly the best (and most expensive) software purchase I've ever made. It's in current reincarnation there doesn't seem to be anything they haven't thought of, and while some of it may be more fiddly to do on the computer than it would be to write by hand, it certainly comes out looking better.
However, for the first time in ages I struck something the other day that I couldn't get to work properly. A wavy line running between two staves just wouldn't come together for me. It's the sort of thing that isn't a regular item in music manuscripts, but it is used. According to the Sibelius manual (a weighty and detailed tome) it's possible to do this by starting out with a slur as usual, and then doing a bit of keyboard manipulation and selecting something and holding it. However, I could only get this to work once, and even then the result wasn't ideal. Looked like something off a toddler's drawing pad. Whenever I tried again, the process wouldn't work according to the book. Normally the manual is detailed enough for even the most abstruse computer-user to grasp, and I thought I was following the instructions to the T. But the computer didn't agree.
